SLIFT laden ein zum Roadtrip auf der Milchstraße. Der Dreier aus Frankreich spielt krautig garagigen Psych n´ Roll from Space. Hä was?
Stellt euch vor, gerade aufgestanden, gerade auf dem Weg zur Arbeit, Uni, Schule, whatever, gerade erhebt das Murmeltier die Hand zum Gruß. Da erscheinen euch drei Typen auf einer intergalaktischen Mission, bereit euch in den Orbit zu katapultieren. Ihr entscheidet euch für die rote Pille und ab gehts.
Mit jeder Menge Fuzz im Tank peitscht ihr durch die Atmosphäre, das Wah brennt sich durch die Milchstraße, Reverb und Delay stehen auf 11 und ihr geratet in einen unaufhaltsam groovigen Strudel aus Psych und Wahnsinn. An dessen Ende warten wundersame Welten auf euch, bunte Galaxien. Immer wieder ertönt die Stimme der Reiseleitung, mal high-pitched verträumt, mal gritty wie Captain Beefheart. Ihr durchsegelt ausufernde Seen psychedelischer Glückseligkeit, bis ihr euren Heimatplaneten letztlich bloß noch als einen von vielen flimmernden Sternen am Horizont wabern sehen könnt.
Slift sind auf Europatournee und wir haben das große Glück, sie in Marburg bei einem von nur drei Deutschlandkonzerten erleben zu können. Mit einer Live-Energie wie The Great Machine und der Musikalität der australischen Echsenzauberer um König Gizzard bleibt garantiert kein Hirn unverschallert.
Riesig freuen wir uns außerdem auf das Trauma-Debüt von Roamaer aus Aschaffenburg! Die vier Jungs und Mädels eröffnen den Abend mit progressiv-fuzzigem Heavy Psych, der sich deutlich von der Genremasse abhebt. Verwurzelt im klassischen Stoner Rock bieten Roamaer nämlich weitaus mehr als bloß schweißtreibenden Wüsten-Fuzz. Hinein in progressives Riffgeballer fügen sich verträumt-psychige Passagen auf eine derart organische Weise, wie man sie sonst bloß von den etablierten Größen des Genres kennt. Hier wird das beste aus zwei Welten vereint: Die tranceartige Atmosphäre ausgedehnter Jams wird in eine minimalistische Songstruktur gegossen, um relevant zu bleiben und Raum zu schaffen für verspielte Rhythmuswechsel. Wir werden an diesem Abend sicherlich nicht das letzte Mal vom Aschaffenburger Vierer gehört haben.
Das wiederholt geniale Artwork zum Gig hat erneut Manu von Bertz (Instagram: vonbertz) gezaubert und gibt’s wie immer gegen kleine Spende am Abend zu ergattern.

Die Botschaft:
Erste Beobachtung: Diese Platte klingt wie unter Wasser aufgenommen.
Zweite Beobachtung: Alles auf „Musik verändert nichts“ klingt sehr homogen. Ein ganz eigener Sound, kobaltblau und kirchengelb, oder wie Neil Young (auf den sich bei Botschaft alle einigen können) mal sagte: „It’s all one song“. Dritte und letzte Beobachtung: Keine deutsche Band macht momentan Musik, die auch nur entfernt an Botschaft erinnert.
Die Musik: Soft Rock, Yacht Rock, höflicher Gitarren-Pop, mit „Indie“ hat das nichts zu tun. Es ist ein lockerer, leichter Klang, deren Lyrics mit der Art der Musik brechen. Was Botschaft nicht bedienen, ist die Idee von einfachen Lösungen, von Utopien. Botschaft beschreiben ihre eigenen Biographien („Sozialisiert in der BRD“, „Hinter dem Haus“) und fangen damit auch die Härten ein, die man in der Kindheit und Jugend hinnehmen musste und die bis heute Einfluss auf unser Leben nehmen.
Support: Sharping (Berlin)
Geboren erst letztens aus dem Schoße des Post-Punk – unter dessen wohligen Tisch man die Füße noch viel länger hätte stellen können – kappten die vier SCHARPINGs bald diese Nabelschnur. Elektrische Gitarre und Dringlichkeit können ja noch immer ganz schön erquickend sein, aber man kann das auch mal anders machen. Will heißen: Es gibt Riffs, es gibt
Zerre, es gibt aber genauso Groove und Soft Rock. SCHARPING sind also der schamlose Dienstleister ihrer eigenen Generation. Jenen Jahrgängen, noch immer eingeengt zwischen Mama und Papa, die ein stabiles Autoverkäufer_innen-Leben führen, und den true Digital Natives, die viel besser wissen, wie man den Content der Zukunft produziert und den Selfie-Stick handelt.

Das Trauma hat die goße Ehre nach Toby Goodshank nun die zweite Antifolk-Legende in diesem Jahr begrüßen zu dürfen:
Unter dem neuen Namen Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage kommt im November das neue Album "Bad Wiring" (Moshi Moshi Records) raus und vorher gibt es einen Zwischenstopp in Marburg!
Der in New York geborene und aufgewachsene Jeffrey tourt seit 2002 regelmäßig auf der ganzen Welt und spielte als Vorgruppe für Bands wie die Mountain Goats, Daniel Johnston, Stephen Malkmus und The Jicks, Dinosaur Jr, The Fall, Pulp, Roky Erickson uva.. Vor allem sein lyrisches Talent wird immer wieder als einzigartig hervor gehoben und sucht tatsächlich seinesgleichen.
Jeffrey Lewis ist außerdem als Comic-Künstler und Illustrator aktiv und publiziert regelmäßig seine eigene Serie FUFF.

JEREMIAH KANE - Synthwave/Neo 80's/Synthrock
Die Brüder Jeremiah und Vincent Kane kann man schon fast als Synth-Rock Band bezeichnen. Durch die Liebe zu alten 80er Jahre Videospielen sind die Jungs zur Musik gekommen. Auf mittlerweile zwei full-length Alben beweisen die Polen, dass sie nicht nur klassischen Retrowave (The New Dawn) sondern auch Synthrock (All or Nothing) beherrschen.
